Cat Dreams

Warm sunlight dapples
A sleeping, peaceful form
Brush of softest fur
Tucked over the wet pink nose

  .....She dreams of green meadows
And scurrying mouse whiskers
She dreams of sweet cream
In gold painted dishes
She dreams of the hunt
And her regal cat cousins
She dreams of fat goldfish
That, out of reach, taunt her
She dreams her cat dreams
Her claws shoot and retract
And she dreams
At the last

 .....Of sunlight that dapples
A sleeping, peaceful form
Brush of softest fur
Tucked over the wet pink nose.
