A powerful cat with a massive build. The legs are powerful and the body long and muscular. It is the world's largest feline. The head is rounded with small, round ears. The coat is striped in black over a background of orange. The underparts, ruff of the neck, and down the inside of the legs is white or cream.
Habitat: Forest, mangrove swamps, savannahs and grasslands.
Habits: Nocturnal. Mostly terrestrial, but is a good climber and swimmer.
Prey: Deer, wild pigs, buffalo, domesticated animals.
Distribution: India, Nepal, Bhutan, Burma, Thailand, Vietnam, Russia, China.
Additional Notes: No two tigers have the same stripes; in fact, it is believed that each side of the same tiger is also unique.
