Bobcat

Felis (Lynx) rufus
head and body 30 inches, tail 6 inches, weight 15-35 pounds
Also known as the Bay Lynx, the Bobcat has a smaller body and feet than the Lynx, and slender legs. The fairly large head has sharply pointed ears, which usually is tufted. The buff coat is barred and spotted with dark brown or black, and the backs of the ears are black.
Habitat: All types of forests, grassy jungle, bamboo thickets, rocky areas.
Habits: Mainly nocturnal. Very territorial.
Prey: Rabbits, gophers, other small mammals, some birds, deer in winter.
Distribution: British Columbia South and East to Central Mexico.
