Geoffrey's Cat

Named after Geoffrey St Hilaire the French Naturalist, this striking little cat is known as "Gato Montes" or the "Mountain Cat" in Argentina. Found in various shades of ochre to silver-gray, the coat is covered all over with equally placed small black spots. On the shoulders and flanks of some individuals, the spots may merge to form rosettes and bars. The rounded ears are black on the back with large white spots.
Habitat: Open bush and scrubby woodland.
Habits: Mainly nocturnal. Terrestrial.
Prey: Small mammals,  birds.
Distribution: South America.
