Golden Cat

Felis aurata
head and body 24-39 inches, tail 6-14 inches, weight 11-26 pounds
Coat varies from chestnut to reddish, from fawn to gray-brown, to dark gray. May be plain or spotted, with a dark line running down the tail. Sturdily built, with a long tail.
Habitat: High mountain forests, along waterways. Requires much water.
Habits: Nocturnal. Hunts at dawn and dusk. Terrestrial.
Prey: Small mammals and rodents, monkeys, duikers, birds.
Distribution: West and Central Africa, Uganda, Ivory Coast.
