Iriomote Cat

Felis iriomotensis
head and body 19-23 inches, tail 8-12 inches, weight 6-10 pounds
A dark brown coat with rows of dark spots. The bushy tail is striped, and the backs of the ears have a white spot. Approximately the size of a housecat.
Habitat: Woods, forests, cultivated areas, beaches.
Habits: Nocturnal. Terrestrial.
Prey: Birds, rodents, bats, reptiles, crabs, and amphibians.
Distribution: The island of Iriomote, Japan.
Additional Notes: This cat was only discovered in 1967, on this one island. It has a population of fewer than 100.
