A dark brown coat with rows of dark spots. The bushy tail is
striped, and the backs of the ears have a white spot. Approximately the size
of a housecat. |
Habitat: Woods,
forests, cultivated areas, beaches. |
Habits: Nocturnal.
Terrestrial. |
Prey: Birds,
rodents, bats, reptiles, crabs, and amphibians. |
Distribution: The
island of Iriomote, Japan. |
Additional Notes: This
cat was only discovered in 1967, on this one island. It has a population of
fewer than 100. |
